Looking down from an imposing 1970s looking building is this clock in Gibraltar.

Casemates Square in Gibraltar

With a blue surround and Roman numerals for the hours this timepiece looks a little out of place above Casemates Square.

The canon below is  a remnant of the Great Siege of Gibraltar between the British and Spanish.

The Fishergate Baptist Church was built around 1858 and designed by James Hibbert.

A picture of the church in 1862 is available on Flickr.  The ornate railings are thought to have been removed in the 1940′s.

Currently the building is for sale with a value of around £500,000. Longden and Cook are the agents. Details can be found on the sale particulars.

The building was  Listed Grade II on the 29 January 1986

A Baptist congregation started in the Preston area during 1783.

Glover’s  Court in Preston is where this clock is to be found.

Stretching across the road at second floor level this simple clock is painted in the gold and green of the supermarket chain, Booths.

Some web sites indicate this was the site of a warehouse for the company and at one point contained a firing range.

The recent publication of a national crime map indicated that this area was the most crime ridden in England and Wales, a claim local business people dispute.

On the corner of Mount Street and Fishergate in Preston is Whittles Jewellers.

Outside above the shop front is the Rolex clock to be seen often outside of high end jewellers.

The firm has been connected to the jewellery and gold market for over 145 years according to their website.

St Andrews Church, Gretna

Listed in 1988, St. Andrews Church in Gretna is a Church of Scotland building.

The building was constructed by a government team headed by Raymond Unwin in 1917.

The building was part of the works commissioned by the Ministry of Munitions to design the villages of Gretna and Eastriggs.

Raymond Unwin was the Chief Housing Architect of the housing branch of the Explosives Department of Ministry of Munitions.

Rising high above the church is the tower with a clock face on each elevation.

Unusually for a clock on a church tower the clock face is of an open metalwork finish and not back lit.

Many of the church windows are protected with wire grills.
